A Tale of Two Speeches

So there was President Obama, standing before the UN, sounding like a true warrior against Islamic terrorism. But was the speech all sound and fury, lacking in substance? It certainly wasn’t the same type of speech he gave to the UN last year. On Fox’s The Kelly File, an interesting comparison was made between what Obama said in his newest UN speech with what George Bush said in 2001. They were strikingly similar: Both speeches spoke of the bloodthirsty, evil… Read more »

Sure, Why Not Another Terrorist State?

I’ve been concentrating on electoral politics lately. There have been other stories that deserve attention as well. One of those is the Palestinian effort to be recognized as a legitimate nation at the U.N. This comes to the forefront of what the media has dubbed the “Arab Spring.” The narrative goes something like this: despotic rulers are being displaced by freedom-loving moderates throughout the Arab world, so we should rejoice over this encouraging development. Unfortunately, I believe this is closer… Read more »

On-the-Job Training

There’s nothing like having a clear mission statement on the Libyan bombing: we’re bombing but we aren’t doing it for regime change. In other words, we’re totally opposed to Qaddafi continuing as “leader” of that nation, but our bombing is not intended to remove him from power. In what universe does that make sense? I freely admit that he should be removed from power. In the past, he has been the primary supporter of terrorism. Reagan called him a barbarian—actually,… Read more »

The Potential for Armageddon?

So the U.N. has imposed new sanctions on Iran. Anyone else feel a yawn coming on? Can’t you see Iran trembling over this world outrage? No? Neither can I. The so-called sanctions are worse than useless: semi-tough talk with no follow-through. An apt depiction of what sanctions will accomplish. Yet every time the “world” does this, we’re told that it’s really going to make a difference. Does anyone with any sense of reality believe this? Iran is so frightened it… Read more »

This Was Not a Peace Ship

There’s really no doubt now that the so-called peace ship heading to Gaza was bent on killing Israelis. The videos make it clear that the Israeli soldiers were attacked immediately upon boarding the ship for an inspection. It’s also now known that a large number of the 700 passengers were connected with Islamic jihadist groups known for terrorism. Some even had ties to Al Qaeda. The cartoonists have caught on to the truth: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rightly defends the… Read more »

America: The Worst Country in the World . . . Except for All the Rest

I saw this cartoon yesterday, and it touched off a train of thought in my mind. First, let me share it—do you see the hidden meaning in it? The reference is to how the mainstream media ignores the real danger and instead worries about how members of a group that committed acts of violence will be treated by the general population. The favorite concern right now is how Muslims will be treated, given all the Islamic terrorism. Well, when’s the… Read more »
