The Obama-Kerry-Rice Terrorism Fantasy

I find I keep using words like “fantasy” and “blindness” to describe what’s taking place in our foreign policy and national defense posture. I hate to be so repetitive, but the Obama administration just won’t stop doing things that reveal its fantasy mindset and its ideological blindness to what is occurring in the world.

The president himself carries the water for most of this, but he has loyal aiders and abettors in his dreamworld. For instance, there’s Secretary of State John Kerry who, incredibly, said this to the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week:

We are actually living in a period of less daily threat to Americans and to people in the world than normally; less deaths, less violent deaths today, than through the last century.

In case you missed that fascinating analysis, I want to assure you I didn’t concoct it on my own. He really said that. It goes along with Susan Rice’s comment—drawn from this administration’s “strategy” for dealing with threats—that we don’t face any “existential” threat compared to what we had to deal with in WWII. Sorry, but I see an existential threat:

ISIS Nazis

Islamic terrorism is every bit as barbaric and ideologically driven as anything the Nazis did.

Yet it appears there is confusion within this administration because yesterday the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, blatantly contradicted his own secretary of state when he told the Senate Armed Services Committee,

When the final accounting is done, 2014 will have been the most lethal year for global terrorism in the 45 years such data has been compiled.

Again, I’m not making this up. Two entirely different perspectives on what is transpiring in the world. Mr. Clapper appears to be out of step with his boss, who is more stridently focused on not offending Muslims than on any other issue in the realm of foreign policy and national defense.

Didn't Mean

This has caused a serious rift with Israel, which always has been our staunchest ally in an area of the world hostile to America. Israel feels its national security is being undermined by Obama’s policies. It’s not hard to feel that way when negotiations with Iran over its development of nuclear capabilities is put in the hands of a clueless John Kerry:

Getting a Nibble

This is why Benjamin Netanyahu chose to come speak to Congress despite the protestations of the administration. Obama wants a deal with Iran that will allow that terrorist nation to develop nuclear power (for peaceful purposes, naturally) while Israel rightly fears for its very existence. A nuclear Iran will then go forward with its plans to nuke Israel. For Netanyahu, this is a matter of life or death. Yet what does this administration say? Well, they send out their dupemaster, Susan Rice, to warn the Israelis to desist from their dastardly actions:

Could Be Destructive

A president who dreads a speech from the Israeli prime minister more than a nuclear Iran is a president who is ignoring his top constitutional duty—protect the nation from all enemies, foreign or domestic. Ignoring the Constitution, though, is something at which he is quite proficient.

The Obama Zone

Yesterday, ISIS captured more than 100 Christians in Syria. If they are treated as other captives, the women and young girls will be raped and brutalized, then executed. The men may be burned alive or crucified. Hatred drives these Islamists, and nothing will appease them. This is no different in spirit than the Nazis. Both movements were and are fueled by Hell.

Yet what do we hear from the administration about this latest report of Christians being massacred? Not a word yet. You see, we wouldn’t want to “inflame” the captors. It might lead them to continue their rampage of terror. At least, that’s the message Obama’s spokespersons are disseminating.

Our president, meanwhile, shows no signs of changing his mind about the foolish comments he made at the Prayer Breakfast:

Not Be Named

This past week, we did get a warning about a possible terrorist attack on the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Was it genuine, or just a ploy to force Republicans in the Senate to drop their opposition to Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty? I don’t know for sure, but I do know that malls like that would make perfect “soft” targets for the terrorists.

Did you see the sign at the Mall of America, boasting that it was a gun-free zone? Well, that’s great. Now we don’t have to worry about terrorists taking guns in there. After all, it’s against the law, right? And they are so law-abiding. The absolute foolishness of our politically correct contingent is neverending.

May I take one more opportunity to make fun of the “jobs for jihadists” theme?

Drive-Through Lanes

As a nation, we have entered the “Obama Zone,” where everything we’ve ever believed is now turned upside down.

And here’s another thing that is now reversed:

A poignant Scripture from the book of Isaiah is one I’ve used many times to decry what we see happening in our country. I’m going to use it again today simply because it so accurately describes what we are experiencing:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!

Introducing Barack Chamberlain Obama

Rudy Giuliani got himself in hot water with the Obama media a few days ago when he declared that he doesn’t think Obama loves America. It’s fascinating how a media that doesn’t seem to have much love for America itself jumped all over that statement. And of course they then tried to tie that to Scott Walker, asking him if he thought Obama loved America. He made a smart move politically, not directly affirming what Giuliani said, but not forthrightly renouncing him either.

It probably wasn’t the best move on Giuliani’s part to say it the way he did. As one commentator noted, quoting Scripture, “by their fruits you will know them.” Far better to point to the One’s actions and/or inactions as evidence of where his heart is.

For instance, he can’t bring himself to say that what we’re battling is really connected to Islam. He won’t blame Islamists for anything. Yet when three Muslims are killed in North Carolina, over what local officials say was a parking dispute, he immediately inserts himself into the situation, warning against a climate of Islamophobia:

It's About Religion

We’re supposed to ignore, of course, that the murderer is an atheist, a supporter of gay marriage, and in every way possible, a man who probably would have voted for Obama. No, this has to be about people who hate Islam—in the president’s mind.

He really goes out of his way to absolve Islam from any blame for atrocities. His wording at times is downright ludicrous:

Pen Is Mightier

Since he blames the West for the “grievances” of those who become terrorists, he rather simple-mindedly believes that if we give them more money and make them feel secure with jobs, all this nastiness will magically go away. One cartoonist recently gave his suggestion on the kinds of jobs we could offer the terrorists:

ISIS Employment

There are historical precedents/similarities that I see here. In the 1930s, most of the Western world fooled itself into believing that Hitler was a problem that could be controlled. He had “legitimate grievances” that could be addressed, and once they were, he would cease being aggressive. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain infamously sold out the Czechs in the Munich agreement in 1938. All that did was spur Hitler on to greater expansion of his power. We have a new Neville Chamberlain today.

Man in Mirror

I fear that if we have another modern-day Pearl Harbor, our president’s response will be something like this:

By the way, I’m predicting another Pearl Harbor/9/11 event. If it occurs on Obama’s watch, we will be in dire straits.

The Week in Review

For today, how about a quick review of this week’s highlights? Or are they lowlights? You decide.

A Texas federal judge stayed Obama’s executive order granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. This was a jolt to the president, who has been very consistent throughout his presidency on this issue:

It's Illegal

Will he stand for this affront to his executive authority?

Banning Judicial

Then we had State Department spokesvalleygirl Marie Harf offering her solution for Islamic terrorism—all they need is jobs!

Root Causes

I can see the plea now:

This “solution” appeared while President Obama was holding his “Violent Extremism” summit that never once acknowledged something called Islamic violent extremism:

Joe Biden couldn’t keep himself out of the news as he prepares his barrel-ride-over-Niagara Falls presidential campaign. Standing behind the wife of Ash Carter at his swearing-in as the new secretary of defense, Biden, shall we say, took the spotlight off the ceremony:

Joe Biden Awkward

I’m sure this has created a groundswell of support for him among the Democrat electorate:

But certainly the most important event of the week—surpassing executive orders, jobs for jihadis, an extremism summit, and the latest Biden embarrassment—has to be this one:

That has to warm the heart of every ordinary dog and/or person. There’s hope for us all.

Defining “Feckless”

I watch the news and am appalled by the twin threats that face our national security: the increasing boldness of Islamic terrorism and the feckless policies of the Obama administration. In case you’re not sure about the definition of feckless, let me help: ineffective; incompetent; futile; having no sense of responsibility; indifferent; lazy. Does that cover it?

Blue Skies

Personally, I think our president bears a certain resemblance to another historical figure:

DC Burning

Maybe the only difference is that Nero was deliberately behind the burning of Rome. That can’t be Obama’s goal, of course . . . Well, come to think of it, perhaps it’s a perfect comparison. Either that or what I have come to call it on occasion—willful ignorance:

All This Fuss

Now we have the spokesman for the Pentagon saying we deplore the Egyptian air strikes on ISIS. You see, that’s not the way to solve this; it must be a political solution. That statement comes right on the heels of the State Department spokeswoman saying that if we could only provide enough jobs for people, they wouldn’t become terrorists:

Lack of Jobs

Beneath all this foolishness is the unwillingness to understand that Islamic terrorists don’t see the world in the same way as Westerners do (or did). Jobs are not their big concern; being faithful to their fanatical beliefs is. They are motivated by a religious fantasy fueled by hatred. No job is going to change that.

But we go our merry way, ignoring reality:

Refused to Cry Wolf

Yes, a huge chunk has been taken out of Western civilization. Pretty soon, it’s going to be hitting much closer to home. Many of us look forward to the 2016 elections in the hope of changing our government’s policies. The big question, though, is whether, by 2016, it will be too late to do anything. Will those policies have undermined us completely by then?

And despite all that is happening, President Obama’s latest approval rating is 50%. Are half of our citizens really that foolish? I fear that’s the case.

Islamic Terrorism Continues

The Islamists continue their war against the West while our president concentrates on the ultimate security threat—in his mind—global warming. Over the weekend we saw two more atrocities, one more publicized than the other.

The one that got the most coverage was in Copenhagen, Denmark, where a Muslim gunman murdered two and wounded others in two separate attacks. The first was at a debate over free speech, the second at a Jewish synagogue. All of central Copenhagen was shut down during the manhunt. He was found and killed.

Copenhagen Gunman

Two others have now been identified as accomplices and arrested.

The other horrific event was another ISIS video, this time from Libya, of the beheading of up to 21 Coptic Christians who had been taken hostage.

Beheading Christians

As you can see by the caption put out by ISIS, these men are called “the people of the cross, the followers of the hostile Egyptian Church.” What Christians are going to have to realize is that the Islamists consider all of us as enemies and believe they are tasked by Allah to rid the world of all enemies. A far cry from the charge Jesus gave His disciples to go into all the nations and preach the Gospel of reconciliation with God.

These kinds of atrocities have only begun. Meanwhile, we have an administration that tells us the media is “hyping” the problem. It’s strange to me that this particular administration, which has been the darling of the media all along, should now be accused of “hyping” a real threat. If anything, from my point of view, it continues to downplay the truly horrific nature of what is occurring.

No matter what you may think of the Bush administration’s response to terrorism, it wasn’t the bankrupt policy we see now. How would President Obama have handled 9/11?

Stop Hyping

Our president chooses to ignore the threat because of his latent sympathies with Islam. He pretends it’s not really a big problem, but the Great Pretender may have to come to grips with it when another act—or a wave—of terrorism comes to our shores. In fact, I predict it will. I just hope it’s not on his watch because his response might simply be one word: surrender.

Welcome to the New Wonderland

I’ve been devoting more time than usual to national security and the threats that face us as a nation. It’s not that I want to do so; events are driving the commentary.

The latest from the Middle East is that the fallen Yemen government—you know, the one that Obama touted as a model for our great success in the War on Terror war on random acts of violence—has not only been deposed, but an Iranian-backed terrorist group has taken control. Yesterday, we not only evacuated our embassy, but the Marines were given orders to destroy all weapons, so they wouldn’t fall into the hands of the new “government.”

This comes on the heels of the news that another American hostage, this time a young woman of 26 and apparently a genuine Christian, Kayla Mueller, was killed by ISIS. Or should we not talk about such things? Are we just hyping a small problem into a major one?

No worries. Our president has gone to Congress for authorization to wage war against ISIS. Don’t look too closely at the details of this call for authorization; it has a time limit of three years and doesn’t allow for any contingency for the use of ground troops because, as we all know, one of his key pledges was to not get the U.S. “bogged down” in another ground war—regardless of what might be necessary to defeat an enemy. Yes, let’s undermine the whole “war” thing from the start; it’s simply too messy to get involved.

I Want You

At least Obama isn’t limiting himself in the Middle East only; he’s also turning his back on the Ukrainians as they try to defend themselves against Russian aggression. Consistency—what a wonderful trait.

Giving a Hand

Those with a libertarian bent might be concerned about my seeming call to war. Let me be clear (to quote our current leader): war is a last resort, but how long are we going to allow terrorism to flourish? This is not only a Middle Eastern issue; it affects us all eventually. Is there nothing we’re willing to stand strong for anymore? Are we now willing accomplices in our own destruction?

So instead of being serious about the Islamic threat, and not even evidencing a willingness to call it what it is, what do we get? A dire warning that climate change is our greatest security issue. Huh?

Urgent Threat

Our president is going to make sure he doubles down on our real enemies:

Alice in Wonderland depicts a more realistic view of the world than the one Barack Obama lives in.
