Pro-lifers rejoiced recently when the abortion language was dropped from the House healthcare bill. That rejoicing may be shortlived.
President Obama has now made it known that he wants federal funding of abortion inserted back into the final healthcare bill that comes out of Congress. For those who may not remember just how pro-abortion this president is, let me jog your memory.
As an Illinois state senator, Obama took the most radical position possible on this issue. When a bill was proposed that would allow medical treatment to a child “accidentally” born alive during an abotion, he adamantly opposed it. This was not one of those numerous times that he voted “present.” He was fully invested in disallowing medical treatment to those innocent children. He denied it later, but the facts are uncontestable. He has a habit of denying the obvious. Why has he gotten away with it? The media never calls him on it.
His opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act inspired this political cartoon during the presidential campaign:
How is this not an accurate portrayal of his position? How long will some Christians absolve him of this perverse, anti-Christian viewpoint?
If Obama gets his way, government-funded abortion will be part of the healthcare package. We will be told not to worry about it. Look the other way and pretend everything is fine. Yet that same package will have criminal penalties attached for something else:
As the prophet Isaiah warned, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”
