Making Homosexuality Normal

We’ve seen the Biblical view of homosexuality, and how it is clearly labeled a sin. Our society traditionally understood this until things started changing in the late 1960s (which is when a lot of things changed). A “gay rights” movement began in earnest in the mid-1970s. The goal was to make homosexual activity seem as normal as heterosexual. No one could have predicted how successful this movement has become. Here’s how it was accomplished: First, make the issue one of… Read more »

The Bible and Homosexuality (Part II)

Why does God consider homosexuality a sin? Why not live and let live? The answer is deeper than homosexuality itself. It has to do with the heart of man and his desire to rebel against the way God has set things up to work. God fashioned men and women the way He did to create the family structure. The physical characteristics and obvious differences between men and women are not cosmic accidents, but a grand design. The Apostle Paul, in… Read more »

The Bible and Homosexuality (Part I)

The first place we see homosexuality mentioned in Scripture is in the account of the judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah. Angels in the guise of mem arrive in Sodom and are invited to stay at the home of Lot, Abraham’s nephew. The homosexuals of the city demand that Lot send out the men for sexual relations. The angels/men make the homosexuals blind to break up the mob. When judgment falls on Sodom, God was also judging its homosexuality. We see… Read more »

The Sin that Dare Not Be Called a Sin

I believe that the Biblical worldview encompasses all aspects of life. I believe that all issues—whether political, economic, or social—are spiritual issues. Most Christians focus on what they call the moral issues when they get involved with politics, but I would like us to understand that all these issues are moral issues. We are always dealing with right and wrong. That’s why this blog doesn’t focus only on problems such as abortion. If you have read anything I’ve written, you… Read more »

No Moral Equivalence

There’s a phrase that historians know very well, used by some to describe the Cold War: moral equivalence. What they mean by this is that both the United States and the Soviet Union were equally responsible for the Cold War, and that there was no real difference between them morally. No difference? How many Stalins have we had? Yes, we have had our own holocaust (it’s called abortion), but in no way can you compare the two systems—a federal republic… Read more »

American Character: George Whitefield

George Whitefield Preaching He was a sensation. He was not even strictly an American, but a traveling evangelist from Britain. Yet America was on his heart. When George Whitefield arrived in America in 1740, he started in Georgia and traveled up the coast, preaching in all the colonies. The result was the climax of what we call the First Great Awakening. Whitefield’s voice boomed, and he dramatized his sermons. Thousands traced their conversion to his messages. Ben Franklin became his… Read more »

Christians and Race

Let’s talk about race. And let’s talk about the Christian perspective on race. Those who reject the Christian message try to pin a label on us, that we are racial bigots. How often I have heard that the most segregated hour of the week is Sunday morning. They try to imply that evangelicalism is a “whites-only” religion. Well, first of all, that has not been my experience—not in the churches I have attended, nor at the Christian colleges where I… Read more »
