My wife, Jan, received news from the surgeon that the surgery showed all traces of cancer had been eradicated by the chemo. It was still necessary to perform the surgery, she still has a long recovery, and will continue treatments to keep the cancer from coming back. We welcome this news, obviously, but we also see it as an answer to prayer. We were told from the beginning that only 30% of patients at her stage with the aggressiveness of her cancer would see this kind of result from the chemo and surgery. Jan, therefore, was part of that minority. As the apostle Paul reminds believers:
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We are a few steps closer to that peace this day. Thanks be to God.
