First an earthquake, now a hurricane. What’s happening in the natural world has its parallels in the political world, as a number of cartoonists have noted already. Here are a couple on the earthquake:
That last one is of course making reference to all the “reasons” President Obama has given for the failing economy. Now, with Hurricane Irene imminent, he has another one he can add to the list:
Apparently, the Washington Monument suffered some cracks from the earthquake, although they are hard to see—almost as hard to see as the true state of the economy, at least through the eyes of some observers:
Never fear, though; the president will be back on the job soon:
Then again, maybe that should be one of our primary fears.
