The Essence of Nonexistence

Have you read about the latest news on the stimulus and the jobs it has saved or created. I know, how does one figure out “jobs saved”? Answer: you make it up.

Well, the latest is that there seem to be a whole lot of congressional districts out there that don’t really exist—such as district 00 in New Hampshire. And in all these nonexistent districts, there are multitudes of jobs that are just as nonexistent. Sometimes, the “saving” of one job cost only a few million dollars.

Perhaps you can check this out for yourself on recovery.gov, the administration’s attempt at “transparency.” However, don’t be surprised if the info has been removed by the time you get there. After all, it was a little embarrassing.

At last, progress.
