The revelations continue. Yet how many voters are aware of what is happening? Is the mainstream media telling them about the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN)?
This very left-leaning group supposedly does “good” things, like get people to register to vote. Its voter-registration drives have led to prosecutions and convictions for fraud. Currently, 15 states are investigating this organization for voter fraud. The goal is to obtain as many votes for Obama as possible, whether they are legitimate or not.
What is the connection with Obama directly? Well, first of all, back in the early 1990s, he worked for ACORN as director of its “Project Vote,” the same project that is currently under investigation. In his capacity as a lawyer, he also represented the organization in a lawsuit to push for “Motor Voter” laws. That’s not all. When Obama served as chairman of two foundations, he directed funding to ACORN.
Well, that’s ancient history, right? Not exactly. During the primaries for his presidential bid this past year, he actively sought ACORN’s endorsement (big surprise of the day–he received it), saying, “Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”
Finished? Not yet.
It has recently been learned that during this current campaign, Obama has paid an ACORN subsidiary $800,000 for . . . voter registration drives. The very voter registration drives that have led to the fraud accusations and investigations. This payment was not properly disclosed to the Federal Election Commission as mandated by law. “A clerical error” is the campaign’s “explanation.”
I can hear the cries even now: “Wait a minute, we are innocent until proven guilty! These are merely accusations.” At the moment, yes, but ACORN workers have already been convicted of similar charges from previous campaigns. Does it really take a Ph.D. to figure out that they have established a pattern?
Will this news get out? Aside from the Internet and Fox News Channel, mention of it seems to be slight. Or if it is mentioned, will the media put such a slant on its reporting that people will be convinced it’s not a real problem?
One of my focused prayers for this election is that the truth will come to light.
