Obama Fiddles While America Burns

All the electioneering has distracted from the ongoing attack on America by the current temporary occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. How is Barack Obama continuing his assault on America? Let me count the ways.

First, he is salivating over the prospect of nominating another Supreme Court clone, one who will tip the balance against the Constitution for the foreseeable future:

Another Appointment

Fortunately for the country, at the moment, Republicans in the Senate are standing against any nominee coming from this most unconstitutional of all presidents. Will they remain steadfast? That’s always the relevant question.

Then there’s the dramedy known as Obamacare, in which premiums rise inordinately, exchanges go bust, and jobs are sacrificed to this sacred cow. Again, the silver lining is that it is so inefficient that the whole thing may break down:

Obamacare Bust

And did you hear the news out of the misnamed Justice Department? Attorney General Loretta Lynch and her minions, under the auspices of our president, are looking into the possibility of prosecuting those of us they call “global warming deniers.” Thought police, indeed?

Inquisition

On the terror front, Obama’s desire to empty Gitmo of all radical jihadists proceeds apace. Never mind that those released will rejoin the ranks of those who seek to destroy America:

Get Out of Gitmo

Then there’s Iran. You know, that misunderstood nation that truly wishes to be our friend? Ignore the fact that Iran just violated the so-called agreement that Obama and Kerry hammered out by shooting off a missile. What makes that even more infuriating is that the missile had a message inscribed on it in Hebrew calling for Israel to be wiped out.

Just a Test

The administration is shocked—shocked—that Iran would do such a thing:

Pinky Promised

Obama fiddles while America burns. Meanwhile, American voters fiddle around with the possibility of replacing him with either Hillary or The Donald. Those options are not improvements.

The Greatest Threats

Well, I’m sure glad President Obama spoke to the American people the other night and assured us he is on the job against Islamic terrorism. He was quite direct in how he was adjusting his strategy to deal with this issue: no adjustment necessary.

So what did you hear if you watched his little speech? Probably the same thing most of us heard.

Yadda

Nothing In It

What we did learn, though, is that Americans can’t be trusted with guns and that more gun control laws will stop terrorism. Can’t wait to see how that works, can you?

In Violation

Check Gun Laws

We also received a scolding on our attitudes toward Muslims, which seems to be the greatest threat now to the nation, in his estimation. I guess it’s all those “hate crimes” committed against Muslims ever since 9/11. We’re just so intolerant that all Muslims now feel threatened by our hostility toward them.

Right. All the crime statistics say otherwise. Most of the catalogued hate crimes are against Jews, not Muslims, and from my perspective, it’s the Christians who are now in the crosshairs, especially from this administration.

Do you ever wonder how Obama would have responded if he had been president and 9/11 occurred on his watch?

Box Cutter Epidemic

We could also project him back into another massive historical attack, one that we commemorated just a few days ago. In fact, some cartoonists have done just that. Here’s their perspective:

Mass Shooting Pearl Harbor

What If

The greatest external threat to America is Islamic jihadism. The greatest internal threat resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, DC.

No, This Is Not Moral Equivalence

Nicholas ThalasinosNicholas Thalasinos was one of the victims in the terrorist attack in San Bernardino last week. He was one of Syed Farook’s co-workers. Thalasinos was a Messianic Jew—a Jew who had come to recognize Jesus Christ as the Jewish Messiah—and who was deeply concerned about the threat of radical Islam.

Reports indicate that Thalasinos and Farook had argued over whether Islam is a religion of peace, with Thalasinos challenging Farook’s assertion that it is. Apparently, Farook sought to prove he was correct by peacefully murdering fourteen of his co-workers, of whom Thalasinos was probably a chief target.

The mainstream media wants to hide as much as possible the fact that what is occurring here is a jihad against Christianity. Both Christians and Jews have reason to be wary of Islam. For Thalasinos, the threat was doubled because he was both. He paid for his outspoken faith with his life. His reward is that he is now with the Lord.

A New York Daily News columnist, Linda Stasi, wrote an opinion piece a couple of days ago that has garnered a lot of attention. Stasi wrote that Thalasinos was not an innocent victim but the equivalent to Farook on the Christian side. Why? She wrote,

Make no mistake, as disgusting and deservedly dead as the hate-filled fanatical Muslim killers were, Thalasinos was also a hate-filled bigot. . . .

Thalasinos was an anti-government, anti-Islam, pro-NRA, rabidly anti-Planned Parenthood kinda guy, who posted that it would be “Freaking Awesome” if hateful Ann Coulter was named head of Homeland Security.

And for those views, he must die?

Do you see what she has done here? She has cultivated a time-dishonored technique called “moral equivalence.” Leftists used to do this with the Cold War, declaring that yes, the Soviet Union wasn’t wonderful, but that the US was just as bad. The goal was to diminish the evil in the former and concoct evils in the latter.

Stasi has done precisely this. Because Thalasinos fervently believed in his Christian faith and it led him to be in favor of the Second Amendment and become vocally and “rabidly” pro-life, he was just as bad as Farook.

Her “journalism” is the worst kind. Unfortunately, it is gaining ground. The mainstream media continues to search for ways to exonerate the real terrorists and blame others for supposedly making them radicalized. They have staked out their own territory around every Islamic act of terrorism:

Political Correctness Line

There are those, even in the Christian community, who want to deny there is a culture war going on. Some will even blame people like me who comment on what we see happening. It’s a special type of spiritual blindness, and if not halted, will only aid and abet future atrocities.

There is no moral equivalence here. One side speaks out for life and religious liberty; the other uses guns and terror to make its points. We need to see the difference clearly and continue to stand against both the terrorists and those who, by design or unwittingly, make apologies for them.

Obama’s Wheel of Blame

More information has come out now about the couple that systematically murdered fourteen people in San Bernardino two days ago. The man, Syed Farook, made more than one trip to Saudi Arabia and also went to Pakistan. It was in Saudi Arabia where he married Tashfeen Malik. Investigators now are leaning toward the idea that she radicalized him.

Their home was a veritable arsenal, a factory for making bombs, etc. They were armed to the hilt, and the investigation seems to reveal that they had bigger plans than what they carried out on that fateful day. We also now know that he had been visiting terrorist websites and probably had contacts with either Al Qaeda or ISIS.

Let’s get serious here. This was a radical Islamist terrorist attack on American soil, and it probably was orchestrated with help from others. They were not a “lone wolf” couple.

Yet the FBI, under constraints from the Obama administration, has not been able to declare it terrorism. The definition of the term has become so narrowed that common sense has been left behind.

Of course, common sense has never been a part of the current administration. Our president will do whatever it takes to deflect blame from the obvious source whenever it involves Islam:

Wheel of Blame

This comes on the heels of reports that those responsible for providing intelligence on the terrorist threat have been playing down the seriousness of what we face. One report, from respected journalist Sharyl Attkisson, reveals that Obama got to the point where he didn’t want to hear any more about it, that he refused to listen to the facts.

If true, this puts us all in graver danger than we have realized:

Rubber Chicken

Despite all the evidence, our president chooses to focus on a largely non-existent problem as the greatest threat of all:

Greatest Threat

I’m sure the terrorists are running scared:

Cutting

If anyone had told you seven years ago that we would be where we are today, you wouldn’t have believed it. We are living in a theater of the absurd.

Islam, Terror, & Our President

Here’s what we know thus far about the murderous rampage in San Bernardino yesterday: the murderers were a Muslim husband-wife team; it was well planned, not spur of the moment; their home was booby-trapped and was like an IED factory.

But we can’t call this Islamic terrorism, you understand. No, that doesn’t fit the Obama administration’s narrative. We must maintain the double standard that both the administration and its media allies have constructed:

Complicit in Murder

As with the Ft. Hood shooter and the massacre he carried out, we must instead call this “workplace violence.” That’s already the theme being pushed by Obama and his people. That, and the real cause of this violence: citizens owning guns. Yes, our commander in chief’s first response to yesterday’s terrorist attack was to call on Congress to rein in gun purchases. They’re the problem, not the people committed to a genocidal religious ideology.

Our president’s own radical ideology doesn’t allow him to admit that Islamism is the actual problem. He’s still wedded to the concept that America has caused all of this by its own braggadocio and interventions in the world. Consequently, this is why he has no genuine plans for combating the terrorism—in the deepest area of his heart, he somehow thinks they are right to be outraged and we deserve what we are getting.

It just so happens, before yesterday’s attack, I had been compiling some excellent political cartoons showcasing the Obama approach to terrorism. Here are a few that pretty well summarize it:

More Boots on the Ground

Not Who We Are

Twitter Attack

After all, he knows who the real enemies are:

Radical Republican Terrorists

Yet has the media ever confronted him about his worldview and where it leads?

Tough Question

What was truly funny—well, I don’t know that “funny” is the proper term—was to see him in Paris, where 129 people were recently killed by Islamic terrorists, proclaiming that those kinds of events only happen in America.

Huh?

And why was he in Paris? Why, he was dealing with the one issue that causes all this terrorism and that is going to destroy the entire world: climate change. Yes, Islamic terrorism is nothing compared to this danger:

Terror Climate Change

How are we going to send those so-called terrorists a message? By attending a climate change conference, of course.

Powerful Rebuke

If our president had his way, the evening news would look like this:

First the Weather

One can only speculate how America would have handled the Pearl Harbor attack if FDR had subscribed to the Obama perspective. Well, one cartoonist did speculate:

InfamyWe’re going to have to put up with this until January 2017—if we last that long.

Containing Obama

President Obama’s unwillingness to admit he is wrong about Islamic terrorism in general, and ISIS in particular, has reached a new low this week. The attacks in Paris don’t seem to have affected his views at all. Prior to those attacks, he had infamously stated that we have ISIS “contained,” and he refused to alter that statement after Paris.

Perhaps we just didn’t understand him. Perhaps this is what he really meant:

Contained

That’s giving him far too much credit. What’s especially frustrating about his worldview is that facts don’t seem to get in his way:

ISIS Contained

In case you can’t read the commentary at the bottom of that cartoon, I’ll help. It says, “Dedicated to Those Who Believe What Happens ‘Over There’ Does Not Affect Us ‘Over Here.'”

Obama’s press conference at the G-20 only highlighted his foolishness. Many have noted that he came across as aloof (nothing new there) and almost nonchalant about the actual terrorism.

You Bore Me

Yet his blood pressure appeared to rise, and his tone became more bellicose, when the subject was Republicans and their concerns about taking in Syrian refugees. The West certainly wants to help genuine refugees, but there are legitimate questions about the nature of some of those refugees: are there wolves among the distressed masses who will ultimately be our downfall?

Promise to Behave

That “Three Little Pigs” imagery has shown up in more than one political cartoon:

Rigorous Screening

Another theme also has been prominent:

Carefully Screen

No, Mr. President, we’re not afraid of widows, orphans, and small children. We’re concerned about those interspersed among those widows, orphans, and small children. And why are we concerned? We don’t want to repeat the horror of 9/11. In order to avoid a repetition of that terrible day, we must not only be defensive, but we must switch to a better offensive strategy.

You Can

That will never happen with this president. That’s why I applaud other leaders who are willing to stand up to him and speak truth. The goal is not to contain ISIS but to destroy it. Containment is a word that more appropriately applies to President Obama. If only we can contain him for the remainder of his term of office, we might have a chance.

The Rush to Self-Deception

Paris AttacksEveryone who has a blog is probably commenting today on the Paris attacks of last Friday. Although I haven’t superimposed the French flag on my Facebook image (I’m not one for fads of that kind), that doesn’t mean I’m not deeply disturbed over what has occurred. This was another prime example of Islamic terrorism, even if our president stubbornly continues to avoid using that terminology.

Paris Attacks MapThe attacks in Paris took place at a number of locations at approximately the same time. They were well orchestrated. ISIS has claimed credit for them. At least one of the attackers was part of the Syrian refugee flood, a tide of humanity that ISIS takes advantage of by inserting its adherents, knowing that they will not be vetted properly before infiltrating the welcoming nation’s population.

This is nothing new, of course. Western nations have been the greatest abettors of their own destruction. We are so afraid of appearing insensitive, racist, or intolerant, that we opt for allowing avowed enemies into our midst.

I’m reminded of Mark Steyn’s comments in his book America Alone:

America AloneAfter September 11, the first reaction of just about every prominent Western leader was to visit a mosque: President Bush did, so did the Prince of Wales, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, the prime minister of Canada and many more. And, when the get-me-to-the-mosque-on-time fever died away, you couldn’t help feeling that this would strike almost any previous society as, well, bizarre.

Pearl Harbor’s been attacked? Quick, order some sushi and get me into a matinee of Madam Butterfly! Seeking to reassure the co-religionists of those who attack you that you do not regard them all as the enemy is a worthy aim but a curious first priority. And, given that more than a few of the imams in those mosque photo-ops turned out to be at best equivocal on the matter of Islamic terrorism and at worst somewhat enthusiastic supporters of it, it involved way too much self-deception on our part.

That self-deception seems to exist more at the top levels of our government than among our citizens in general. Polls show that most Americans expect Paris-type attacks to be coming soon to a city near us. A government’s first task is to protect its own citizens; are we sure our current government really believes in that?

For Christians, there is kind of a divided mind on these matters at times. We want to help genuine refugees, particularly since we know that some of them are Christian brothers and sisters trying to escape persecution and annihilation. We don’t want them sent back into that maelstrom.

Yet we can help those refugees through some very effective ministries, and we should do so, even as my church is doing now. But that doesn’t mean we ignore the very real threat that this refugee explosion contains. It’s not Christian to blindly accept everyone, thereby endangering our fellow countrymen.

This unfolding tragedy has no easy answers, but governmentally, it could at least start with an acknowledgement of the real problem. With our present government, that will not happen.
