No, a McCarthy is not needed. A Chambers is. What most people don’t know is that Chambers warned conservatives to stay away from McCarthy because he didn’t really know what he was doing. Chambers was the one with the insight; McCarthy was primarily a politician who sought position and power. He may have been sincere about wanting to unearth communists in the government, but Chambers realized quickly that he was easily befuddled and outclassed intellectually by those he was seeking to oust.

Glancing over the comments on the post, it is sad to see people saying we need another McCarthy. While McCarthy’s cause was on the right track, his motives and behavior were wrong and greatly contributed to the discrediting of the anti-Communist movement. We need responsible leadership in the fight against modern progressivism.
